Sophie is a sculptor who has lived and worked in Bristol for 25 years. A student at Winchester School of Art in the 1970s she has taught art for 20 years, including life sculpture.
She makes originals and pieces for reproduction. Her sculpture is cast into clay for firing, into bronze resin, stone and bronze. She has completed commissions for private and corporate customers, responding to client’s ideas. Sophie also works with willow and found materials, and exhibits in galleries in the UK, France and Vietnam.
When designing for the garden industry in the 1990s Sophie was commissioned to make sculpture with a wide variety of styles and subjects. These days, seeking to find her own voice has led her to working in series, making sets of pieces which explore themes and materials, movement and stillness, bodies and patterns. Her subjects include nudes, dancers, portraits, and people with animals.
